Help Us Find Land to Grow a New Food Future

Could your land help grow something wonderful?

We're looking for suitable land to develop community growing hubs where people can learn to grow real food, work together and help build a more resilient local food supply.

Our vision is to create welcoming, practical spaces where people of all ages and abilities can get involved in growing food, developing useful skills and contributing to their local community.

We're building on the experience of our Together We Grow Community Initiative, which supported 15 teams across the UK to develop their food-growing skills over 18 months.

Now we want to explore what comes next: taking those skills out into local communities and creating opportunities for people to grow food together on the land.

Where are we looking?

We're particularly interested in opportunities in:

  • Essex

  • East Sussex and West Sussex

  • Portsmouth and the surrounding area

  • Hampshire and other suitable locations

We're happy to hear about opportunities beyond these areas, too.

What could a community growing hub look like?

Every site will be different, but our longer-term vision could include:

  • Community vegetable gardens and productive growing spaces.

  • Practical workshops in growing, cooking and preserving food.

  • Opportunities for people to learn from one another and contribute according to their skills and abilities.

  • Partnerships with local farmers, growers, community groups and other organisations.

  • Exploring ways to distribute surplus produce locally and, where feasible, develop a vegetable box scheme.

Our aim is to develop projects that bring people together around something practical and positive, while increasing access to good food and useful knowledge.

What sort of land are we looking for?

We'd love to hear from landowners, farmers, community organisations, estates and anyone who might know of a suitable opportunity.

Possibilities could include agricultural land, underused plots, existing community growing spaces or land that might be made available through a partnership.

The right site will depend on its size, location, access, facilities, planning considerations and the arrangements available for its use. We would explore these factors with potential partners rather than assume every site will be suitable.

You don't need to have a fully formed proposal. If you think there might be an opportunity, we'd welcome a conversation.

Could you help us make it happen?

Perhaps you own land that could be used for community food growing. Perhaps you're a farmer interested in working with your local community. Or perhaps you know someone who might be willing to explore the idea.

A conversation could be the beginning of something valuable.

Help us put down roots in your community.
